It was just okay for me.

I find it to be so engaging right from page one and it is very easy to follow. Recommended for any fan of the supernatural or horror genres. Want to Read saving…. He graam annoying with the whole, ‘just date me’ thing. Suzy James was a good voice for Lily. I love that it is based on Native American folk lore, the “Wendigo”.

The weakness in the book unfortunately is that the human characters are only one-dimensional and some of the dialogue is painfully bad.

It all happens in whirring snow storms, dark woods with grey wolves and quiet night houses that squeak when the hunter is in them. Can you imagine knowing something is there but you cannot see it?

I did not agree with how Lily went about things at times, but I can understand her reasoning behind it. Graham Masterton is a master of his genre – he gives you masteeton or horror, great dialogue and a great story everytime.

He is the one whose books I have discovered in my father’s library during my teenage years and whose mastreton writing has started my insatiable taste for horror books.

She gets mixed up with a PI who is of native American descent and he puts her in touch with a couple of native Americans who se Mxsterton was okay, for the first half I was really hooked and enjoying it. Masterton manages to mix the horror and thriller genres effortlessly.

The police were no help. The Wendigo is a nifty monster, existing in two dimensions, impossible to see edgewise.

The deaths were also pretty graphic, nothing I couldn’t handle but my eyes would open rally wide on some sentences, I simply mastertn to read them out loud to my boyfriend who was near by and watched for his grossed out reactions. The good news is that’s wfndigo present and accounted for, plunging you in, as usual, in the very first chapter. I also have some favorite characters in the book. The scenes of carnage are excellent and exciting.

The ending is where I had masteryon enjoying. A vengeful Sioux spirit wreaks havoc in Minneapolis – When her children are kidnapped, in desperation Lily Blake seeks the services of a Sioux shaman, who summons up the Indian spirit, Wendigo, to find them. Although it’s not as spine-tingling as some of Masterton’s previous work, it still has well thought out and defined horror, suspense and action scenes.

Although there is not a lot of background to these characters and not the greatest character developement it is still enough to fall in love with them anyway. There’s also a character in this who seems to be a bit of a slimy antagonist at times, yet he receives no commupence at all – which is strange as Masterton seemed hellbent on killing every other character he’d introduced.

It is refreshing to see a Native American legend such as the Wendigo given some mainstream attention and Masterton does not disappoint.
